San Juan Del Sur • Granada City • Ometepe • Mombacho • Masaya Volcano • Isletas De Granada • Laguna de Apoyo
Our all-inclusive vacations come with the tours and activities you choose.
We recommend several day trips to see the best of the San Juan Del Sur and Granada areas and combine activities to fill your vacation with culture, action and the sites you want to see at a pace you enjoy.
Get a family surf lesson and check out San Juan’s beach scene for a day, have family farm dinner at sunset, then take a night trip to a sea turtle nesting beach.
Visit Granada, the oldest city in the Americas and take a boat trip through hundreds of tiny islands created by a volcanic eruption, make friends at “monkey island”, shop at local markets for souvenirs, have lunch in a colonial style patio restaurant then visit an active volcano after sunset and see lava at the Masaya Volcano National Park
Check out Ometepe island for a day, formed by two volcanoes rising out of Lake Nicaragua, where you can swim in a mineral spring pool, experience rich local culture, have a lakeside lunch, visit a butterfly sanctuary, see ancient petroglyphs and get a close up view of volcanoes Maderas and Concepción.
On the farm you can hike, ride horses through the forest, see monkeys or a tree sloth, zip-line through the canopy, have lazy days in hammocks, get poolside massages, golf on a short course, skate at our skate park, play mini-golf and relax in your own infinity pool. Our guests can also participate in any of our farm activities- bee keeping and harvesting honey, visit our wood shop, collect eggs, milk cows, pick fruit and vegetables, plant seeds in the garden or a tree in the forest.
On The Farm
Take a walk along one of our farm trails and look up in the canopy for two types of tree sloths – we have both the two-toed and three-toed tree sloths living wild in our forest. We see them in the tree canopy along the cliff, river valleys and are commonly seen along our private road. All of our photos of tree sloths have been from our driveway and hiking trails.
Our horseman come to your house and the ride starts on your villa’s driveway and goes straight to the monkey forest. Enjoy a guided ride through our cloud forest on horseback along our farm trails. Anyone can enjoy a relaxing family adventure around the farm regardless of experience level. The best way to see Finca Las Nubes is on horseback in the morning or afternoon. We have a network of trails that go through our pastures, orchirds and raw forest with creeks and seasonal waterfalls where we see most of the birds and wildlife.
Visit the oldest city in Central America with tours within a tour – Highlights in Granada are the colonial architecture, cathedral views of the city, cigar and chocolate factories, dining at tasty and interesting restaurants, horse carriage ride to see the city sites or a boat trip through 365 isletas to monkey island – there’s more to do in a day in Grenada.
Finca Las Nubes is minutes away, by car, to all of San Juan’s popular surfing and family beaches, pick one that suits your preferences be it for the waves, the seclusion, or a Palapa bar atmosphere with other people out enjoying Nicaragua’s beautiful beaches.
A 200 meter deep lagoon sits inside a volcano crater called Laguna de Apoyo, a nature reserve with some laid back things to do. Here families can discover scuba diving, freedive, swim, SUP, kayak and relax on quiet beaches in a unique eco-system.
We will hook you up with our national surf champion for private family surf lessons and one-on-one training just for your family. He will teach you on the beach, then hit the water with your family and provide hands-on instruction. Suitable for children of any age that can swim.
Fly through the forest canopy, rappel down a tree and try the “Tarzan swing”. You will get picked up at the house in an off-road vehicle and driven to your adventure by professional a forest guide who will point out wildlife that we would normally never see, such as pygmy forest owls and more sloths. At the top of the mountain is the Continental Divide with views of the Pacific Ocean and Lake Nicaragua with a cafe, WiFi and a kid’s jungle gym. Indigenous guides take you on an interesting walk through the forest and point out wildlife, explain the native uses for the trees and talk about how a cloud forest works.
See an active volcano and lava after sunset where you can see into an active caldron. It’s a real active volcano and time on the crater is limited due to the volcanic gasses at the site. This is an easy extension to a day trip to Granada, Mombacho, Laguna de Apoyo or Masaya.
Experience true Nicaraguan culture on the quiet little island of Ometepe which was formed by two volcanoes. Swim in a natural mineral spring pool, tour through a rich biological reserve with abundant wildlife, waterfalls and ancient petroglyphs with lakeside restaurants and a traditional cultural vibe.
Hike through the clouds with a native guide who will take you at your own pace on an informative adventure through an enchanted forest with several spectacular viewpoints. There’s something for everybody on this adventure, it can be a several minute walk through a tree tunnel to a couple of hours on a trail, or a full day of hiking around a jungle-covered volcano crater. The nature center is at the top of the volcano which we drive you to in a year-round green forest rich with wildlife.
A very special nature experience that’s great for kids – Playa La Flor is inundated by hundreds of sea turtles a couple of times a year. Here you can watch these animals crawl out of the surf to lay eggs in their nesting season. Another special time is when the turtle eggs hatch months later and are released at night as part of a government-backed conservation program. During the season the beach has groups of park rangers working round the clock who will show you how to approach a nesting turtle. Families can watch turtles dig a nest, lay eggs and go back to the ocean, a short drive from the farm.
We have yoga instructors who will come to your house for one-on-one or family yoga lessons on your pool deck.
You don’t have to go too far from home to see wild monkeys and tree sloths – we have three types of monkeys here on the farm – the most commonly seen (and heard) are Howler monkeys and we have white-faced and spider monkeys in the area – take a walk on foot or horseback around the property and check out the wildlife.
Charge to the beach everyday and surf waves that are right for your experience level – there are several breaks for beginners and beaches where people are shredding on fun boards, surfing is year-round here. One of the best ways to surf San Juan Del Sur is by boat to access breaks that automobiles cannot, we can line up any type of surf trip.
Visit “Monkey Island” on Lake Nicaragua as part of a tour of Isletas de Granada. Take a boat ride through a unique eco-system of 365 tiny islands created by Mombacho volcanco’s last eruption. The islands are home to many bird species with rich vegetation and lush forest.
Hit glow-in-the-dark golf balls on our short Par-3 course at Casa Buena Onda, we host family chip and put shootout tournaments as an after dinner farm activity for everyone at Casa Buena Onda.
Rappel down a waterfall deep into the forest, after your 4×4 adventure to the top of the cliff, and hike down a creek where you can see petroglyphs from the indigenous population, right here in San Juan just minutes from the farm.
Spend a half-day on a panga trolling for Mahi-mahi, Billfish, Marlin, Tuna, Rooster Fish, Trevally, and Mackerel as the usual catch depending on the season – deep sea fishing boats are available as private charters that we can hook you up with.
Hit up our mini-golf course at the farm store, “Nica Organica”, and play a fun 12-hole course – we also have a pool table and bar serving soft drinks and Nicaragua’s national beer with dinner options on Tuesdays.
Mom’s favorite – a sunset poolside massage! Indulge yourself with any one of our luxury spa treatments performed at your home – we offer a range of spa services provided by local masajistas.
Nicaragua is nicknamed “the land of Volcanoes and Lakes” with different kinds of activities that range from a few minutes to all day – there are excellent trails, canopy forests and viewpoints from our local volcanoes. Climb a volcano through a nature reserve or paddle board a lagoon made by two volcano cones.
Do an eco-dive in a volcano crater lake at Laguna de Apoyo – all levels of divers, including first-timers, can spend a day in a unique nature reserve and experience guided scuba dives in a volcano crater and see thermal activity, endemic fish and local reef-restoration projects while helping out with a local NGOs project underwater.
Local markets are where you can haggle with shop keepers for souvenirs, clothing, ceramics and just about anything – your local guide will be with you to ensure that your haggling goes well.
We built a skate park to provide the youth in our community a healthy social option and we throw jam sessions with local pro’s where everyone can drop in and shred the bowl with live music and a BBQ
Take an overnight trip to our organic coffee farm in the northern mountains and experience a coffee plantation where you can get hands-on and learn the process of growing, picking, processing and roasting organic coffee – from farm to cup. This is recommended as an extension trip, it’s too far for a day trip from Finca Las Nubes.
We believe that “Service is love”. If you too believe that, we can arrange service activities around schooling, sports or any other theme you wish to become involved with. We also have a clinic providing free service to the community right here at our gate.
